Introduction to the LibGuide

This Libguide has a number of resources to help students to answer the question, 'Why Does It Look Like That?' Students are researching a variety of artist's works, with reference to:

  • The Artwork – What is it? What is it about? (subject matter) How was it made? (techniques and materials) Why was it made? Why does it look the way it does?
  • The Artist – Who made it? How did they make it? Why did they make it? Why did they make it look like that?
  • The World – What other things in the world are like this drawing? What things in the world does this drawing talk about (represent)?
  • The Audience – How and where do we see it? How do we know what it is?
