Evaluate the objectivity of a historic newspaper article

Think about the OBJECTIVITY of a historic newspaper article.

This Canvas Research Skills page will help you to understand objectivity so you can evaluate a video of other resources in your blog.

Compare and analyse historic newspaper articles

Search for newspaper articles which reveal CONTROVERSIES about your historical personality. Analysis of historical controversies is rewarded in History.

Here is an example of notes/questions in relation to a comparison between the two historic newspaper articles below:

  • Was LBJ really trying to get America out of Vietnam or was he really a war-monger?
  • Was there any proof that US naval ships provoked North Vietnam and then used North Vietnamese retaliation as an excuse for large scale bombings?
  • What role did the upcoming elections play in LBJ's decision to bomb North Vietnam?

Make notes which record your thinking and how it is changing as you uncover more sources in your REFLECTION.
