How to Reference

Basic Format to Reference a Conference Proceedings

Format for footnotes for a conference proceeding:

  • When referencing conference proceedings papers the techniques used are very similar to those employed when referencing journal articles.
  • The name of the overall proceedings should appear in italics and include the name of the corporate body hosting the conference.
  • There is no need to include the date of the conference unless it is part of the title.

Example:

1 G. Kozicz, 'Architecture of the Empty Shells of Nyar ma', Discoveries in Western Tibet and the Western Himalayas: Essays on History, Literature, Archaeology and Art: PIATS 2003, Tibetan Studies, Proceedings of the Tenth Seminar of the International Association for Tibetan Studies, Oxford, UK, Oxford University Press, 2006, pp. 41-42.
